Susan Ohori started this company as the first to introduce fresh-roasted coffee to Santa Fe in 1984. She learned to roast from Alfred Peet, of Peet's Coffee fame, and started the business as a bean sales only store. It has since expanded to two retail locations in Santa Fe, introducing a "third place" in a town where most social gatherings typically happen in private homes.
She sold the company to her longtime accountant in 2002, but the tradition continues. Now there are pour-overs, buttered coffee for the Paleo stooges, flat whites (still not on the menu, but askable), and a deliberate lack of syrups and artificial sweeteners.
