This popular corner café has six indoor tables with window counter seating and a couple tables along the McAllister sidewalk. The place is themed after the many bicyclists who pass along Arguello, and it's reflected in the bicycle-themed artwork on their red walls. In addition to serving coffee, they also serve full-on meals. Using Blue Bottle's Bella Donovan blend and a two-group La Marzocco Linea, they pull rich doppio shots with a full layer of darker brown crema. It has the potent flavor of some smoke and herbal pungency with a strong sweetness at the bottom of the cup. For milk-based drinks, their microfoaming techinique can vary from good to average - producing decent microfoam heart latte art depending on the barista and the line. (Some skip it or can't do it.) The good news is that the cappuccino here goes modest on the milk (they use 5-oz brown Nuova Point cappuccino cups) and doesn't drown the espresso. The baristas can vary a bit in skill, resulting in inconsistencies. The general service here is also slow, but they are deliberate and careful - which is good in my book. Heavy laptop zombie quotient, however.
