One of the best café scenes in the entire Monterey peninsula. Attached to the Osio Cinemas downtown, this location has two indoor levels and an outdoor patio designed for lounging in style. It has a very Bohemian feel (in a good way), complete with film noir references and XM satellite radio jazz played throughout. Free wi-fi and some good-looking sandwiches, pastries, and desserts. The food offerings shift from morning to evening around 11am each day. They serve espresso from a classic remake of a chrome, three-group E-61 Faema supplied by Mr. Espresso. The pour comes with a light-to-medium brown crema in classic brown, wide ACF cups, but unfortunately the crema has large bubbles suspended within it. With a flavor of spice and pepper and a distinctively dry malty edge. [CLOSED: Cafe Lumière by 2008.]
