Alba's installment of a series of chain roasters and cafés - based in Torino province, but with multiple locations even in London. Past the bags of unroasted beans in front with a large Petroncini roaster, you follow an unusual custom for this area but common for most of Italy: paying first at the register ('la cassa'). At the bar they have dueling two-group Elektra machines. Particularly popular with weekend tourists, there's interior seating and more traditional café service beyond it. They serve espresso with a decent, coagulated layer of medium brown crema - albeit somewhat thin in size. The thin body in the cup, however, doesn't hold up as well. With a flavor of medium spices. Local roasting isn't apparently everything. ?0.90.
