Review
Located in the Redwood City Theater District, this café aspires to be something a little more for the neighborhood than it is. Recently taken over by the developer/landlord from its previous owners, who were in foreclosure, it has a long bar of pastries, salads, soup, and sandwiches, parasol seating on the sidewalk in front, and numerous indoor café tables and leather chairs in a more plush environment of dark wood beams. For espresso, they use a three-group Iberital to produce espresso shots with a strong, ash-like odor, filled high in the cup. The crema is an even, medium brown of modest thickness. The big sin here is the ashier flavor, however. Served in a modern-looking cup and saucer combination with shreds of lemon rind mysteriously on the side. They also have a Melitta bar for up to six filter coffees.
