Review
This is a restaurant and lounge-heavy lounge has a heavy chic decor, but the food is actually quite excellent. Unfortunately, none of that extends to their coffee service. Velvet curtains and chairs with smoky, electronic lounge music fills the bar - where they use a two-group Brasilia to pull shots of Illy. The resulting shots have almost no crema (what there is has a pale color) and a watery, ashy flavor that virtually ruins any meal as a closer. Drinking this stale coffee, with a seemingly out-of-service-tolerance espresso machine, makes you feel like you just smoked a cigarette. This was easily the worst espresso we had in Cape Town (california bad, even). Not coincidentally, it also has the least in common with the other shots we've had in terms of pedigree. R12.
