Across the Illy-branded Love Revenge Cappuccino shop in the Victoria Wharf mall of the V&A Waterfront, this café is as much a gourmet grocer as a place to get a bite to eat and a spot of espresso. Decorated in red and white candy stripes, the café offers several small tables sitting amongst magazines and shelves of specialty food items. Using a three-group WEGA machine, they pull shots of stale-looking, even, thinner medium brown crema. It's overextracted American style, filled extra high in a larger demitasse. There's some fruit in the flavor of the pour, but otherwise it's mostly a watery pepper flavor that's not quite ashy. Overly expensive at R16. Their milk-frothing is OK, and we'd advise getting milk to balance out the volume instead of the water they currently use. Bad barista - bad, bad, bad.
