Although São Roque do Pico is hardly new, this restaurant is certainly in a neighborhood that smells of fresh construction, fresh paint, and fresh asphalt. Even if the equivalent of a 'lawn' hear is large chunks of black, basalt lava rock. There are parasols over limited outdoor seating in front, a fish tank at the entrance, and several indoor tables in air-conditioned comfort. Using a Delta-branded two-group Brasilia machine behind the small service counter (often left with portafilter handles cooling in the drip tray), they pull shots of espresso with a broken thin layer of medium brown crema. It's filled a bit high in the Delta-logo Costa Verde cup, and not surprisingly its flavor is something of a watery pepper. ?0.60.
