This is a popular lunch spot in the fisherman's village of Urzelina, not far from the main port. Inside there are a number of dining tables, many with views out the windows at the port. Additionally, there's a popular, short, three-person bar at the front counter for coffee service. There they use an immaculately maintained two-group Fiamma and heavily pre-heat their Bogani-logo cups and saucers. They pull shots of espresso with a mottled light and medium brown crema, a relatively modest thickness, and served high in the cup. It has a somewhat sweeter flavor of berry and toasted wood. For the Azores, or even Portugal, it has an unusually high brightness - it seems very island-like. (Appropriately.) But there is also a generally high serving temperature as well. The narrow flavor profile has a bit more chicory-style flavoring than true pepper-and-spice Portuguese coffee. Some might even say it doesn't taste much like coffee. They are ok at milk frothing and dust with cinnamon. A most unusual cup for the islands. ?0.50.
