This small North Berkeley café, just off UC Berkeley campus, is considered among the best in town by a number of students and locals alike (and even has some similar accolades from earlier years from the East Bay Express). In its tight space, they offer many small café tables indoors and a few sidewalk café tables out front. They serve wines, desserts, panini, and espresso from a worn (but relatively modern) two-group La Cimbali machine at the tight counter. They serve espresso with a properly short shot in a mismatched saucer and designer Illy ACF cup. It comes with a thinner layer of a deep medium brown crema and an Illy flavor on the stale side, compressed on the bass notes and comprising mostly of earthy pungency and little brightness.
