Review
In a non-descript office park (the Bayside Business Plaza) off the 101 freeway, this small café serves good Mediterranean food and coffee. There's a lone, small table to sit inside. Otherwise the bulk of the seating consists of fixed tables and a Torani parasol in the middle of and outdoor strip within the office park. Using a two-group La Marzocco Linea supplied from Pacific Espresso, they pull shots of Torrefazione Italia's Perugia blend, producing a healthy, thick, medium brown crema on a solid espresso with a good body. It has a pungent flavor of spice and herbaciousness, but without being ashy or too smoky. The owner/operator (Sam) is very particular about his espresso and pays close attention to details. He swears by Torrefazione Italia, despite their limited production and distribution now. He's a bit of a friendly, social guy prone to going off about Starbucks' poor quality, how he likes his coffee, and knowing all his customers by name. His partner in crime, Marta, serves a slow, mean espresso shot as well. Served in Torrefazione Italia paper cups, though if you get on Sam's good side he might offer you one of his rare set of six Torrefazione Italia cups. Milk-frothing is generally good, and they tend to pour more thick foam with little or no milk unless you ask for it. (You can order a wet or dry cappuccino.)
