Suzanne Drexhage worked at Kermit Lynch for over a decade, ran a pop-up, and served at Alice Waters' Chez Panisse in town. She seized the opportunity when Café Fanny closed down in this location after 28 years in business, and in the Fall of 2012 she launched this European-leaning coffee shop, wine bar, and light dining café. They serve coffee, ACME bread from next door (like its predecessor), breakfast, and lunch sandwiches and salads - and millennial requisite avocado toast. There is outdoor seating along the tight, pull-in parking lot of this Kermit Lynch owned property complex: intimate café tables and stools along wooden counters. It's not all that different on the inside, except the space is tighter and there's seating at the service counter. Heading up the coffee service was her son, Sam Sobolewski, who tenured at NYC's Joe: The Art of Coffee. Using a two-group La Marzocco GB/5 at a bar stacked with notNeutral cups, they pull shots with a medium brown, even, nondescript crema layer. There is an over-acidic Heart brightness to the cup, but it has some balance of mild spices in its flavor. Overall it is made well and serves as a great standard for the area.
