Homely Civic Center café with sometimes homelier customers. Large space of beat-up wood and the stereotypical gritty SF café trappings. But given the prime location, it ads international phone card ads splattered all over its windows, state lottery machines, and sidewalk tables eminating the sounds of a T.B. ward. Their overpriced espresso is served with a thin, dark-to-medium brown crema. Thinner body, and a not-all-too-pleasant drip coffee-like flavor with an emphasis more on bitter than on pepper. Staff is not knowledgeable about good coffee. In more ways than one, only for the desperate.
