Another conversion of a former O La La! following their collapse, this sidewalk kiosk (called 'Dica 817' until it switched to a Mediterranean theme in 2006) resides next to a Ross store with just two outdoor tables. Their equipment (a battle-weary, two-group La San Marco) and coffee have transferred from the café's former ownership - and probably hasn't seen maintenance since Memphis, Egypt's heyday. However, when Segafredo Zanetti high tailed it out of the city by 2007, they replaced their coffee with Equator Estate Coffees. But there was no real improvement. They serve espresso with a healthier crema now than the faintest pale ring of old, and the coffee itself no longer carries the rank stench of drip coffee. But flavor- and body-wise, it's not unlike drip coffee with a subtle woody/piney edge to distinguish it - just as with the Zanetti beans. Some grinds at the bottom of the (paper) cup and some grit suspended in the crema. Served at too high a brewing temperature as well. [CLOSED: as of 2010.]
