Just west of the San Francisco Centre mall, this cafe serves Mediterranean food, egg breakfasts, sandwiches, and dinner pastas. Several indoor tables with walls covered with photographs of Morocco. Friendly, comedic owner. Unfortunately their coffee isn't quite up to the quality standards of their food, but the food is quite good for cafe fare.
For coffee they serve Max's Blend from McLaughlin Coffee Co. (and they also sell a private label version). They use a three-group La Spaziale to serve espresso with a pale ring that hints at a crema. As bad as the crema may be, it actually has a good flavor -- smooth, with some smoke and chocolate. Particularly excellent with their halvah bars (imported from NYC, and among the best available in SF). [CLOSED: Caffè Amici as of 2009.]
